Parents have to pay fees for their kids when they enter 9th grade as the RTE act covers education till 8th grade only. Private and unaided schools have asked parents to get ready to pay fees from next year, those students who took admission into these private schools when RTE Act came into force are asked to pay fees from class 9th from the academic year 2020-21, in some cases already parents have been called and informed about the upcoming payments to be made.
Other schools are asking alumini associations to pitch in to cover the costs and some have responded positively.
State Government can request additional funds from central Govt. or ask schools to consider it as a social obligation.
Some parents have thought a possible solution would be to shift children to nearby government or aided schools.
The General Secretary of Associate Management of Primary and secondary school in Karnataka MR. D Shashi Kumar Said, “It is left to the government to extend RTE till class 10 or till the age of 16 and if that is done by the government there will be no issues. If it is not done then burden will be on the parents to provide fee for the next two years i.e class 9 and 10.
